He winces a little, even as an answering smile flickers.

"Maybe not that, but ... it's just, I was thinking. Some of the outposts back on Aquaria were really, really remote, you know? And it happened from time to time that the isolation would get to people."

Hoshi shrugs, very slightly.

"It helped when they had something to do. Like mending nets, or - I knew one guy who took up trying to refine circuits out of scrap wire. A couple got into knitting socks. Just... things."
